The BIG question (as Megan saw it)

Josh is genuinely my best friend. It sounds cheesy, but it is true. Because of this, there are certain things that we know about each other. He knows he can get me to finish my food just by saying "but Megan, you have to finish". And I know when he is lying.

So, back in April, some weird things started happening. I had a late meeting one night at school. I asked Josh what we was going to do that night. He said he was going to go to a movie with his sister. Nothing strange yet. I ask him what movie he is going to see. His answer was vague, he says that he's letting her pick, or that they are probably going to a movie that I know he has already seen. Something is weird and I can only think of one reason for him to lie to me, so I let it go, but my heart starts to beat harder. I call a friend to very excitedly say that I think he is ring shopping.

It is after school on Friday. I call Josh from my desk to say I am leaving work. We had been planning a bike ride, one of our favorite acitivities. I say, "I'm not sure, it's kind of chilly outside..." He counters, talks me into it. This is strange. He tends to do what I want, but he is pushing a bike ride, telling me we will wear sweatshirts and coats if we have to, he tells me it's not that cold outside (although I know it is). I don't like being cold, he doesn't like me being unhappy, and yet he is pushing for the bike ride on a chilly day. I know something is up, my heart starts to beat faster.

I drive home, change into warm clothes. My heart continues to beat. We ride to the bike shop (he has to fill a tire that is low). We ride around the lake. We start to circle back to my house. My heart is still pounding. We are passing the last pier. He suggests we pull off and look around at the scenery. Thump. Thump. I comment on the boats. Thump. Thump. I tell him that I like to say you can see Chicago from that spot. Thump. Thump. He talks about something. Thump. Thump. Maybe I was wrong, maybe I misread things. I says we should go. Thump. Thump. Then, he turns to me! He is on his knee! He has a box that is open! And then, well, I don't really remember the rest. He claims he said "Will you marry me?" I dont' think he would lie, but I don't remember him saying anything. He claims I said "Ok". I swear I said yes. I don't remember. The important part is, we are engaged. We are in love and now we get to get married!

  1. Hooray for blogs! It's like finding out what is going on with people, but not having to talk to them. Much nicer that way, me thinks.
Wait! You posted this in July! What the...
We're so happy for you guys and looking forward to the wedding.
Still, it will be hard to celebrate with the new of Patrick Swayze hanging over our head. Alas, we shall party hardy.
